More efficiently developed automobiles: MBtech Group presents its performance spectrum at the Testing Expo 2008 in Stuttgart
The Automotive Testing Expo, which will take place between the 6th and 8th of May in the halls of the Neue Messe Stuttgart, is Europe’s main trade fair focused on testing and development methods for the automotive industry. MBtech Group will present itself as an Engineering and Consulting service provider. The MBtech vehicle engineering, powertrain solutions and electronics solutions segments will provide the fair visitors with a snapshot sample of its wide testing service spectrum as well as of its testing tools and methods.
Competence in the development of variations
The main focus of MBtech’s presentation at stand 1220 in Hall 1 of the Automotive Testing Expo is on developing variations for alternative drives and fuels. Its far-reaching know-how on the complete development and integration of vehicles is complemented by its competence in motor and powertrain development. The MBtech segments powertrain solutions and vehicle engineering work closely together in this area. In the exhibited Mercedes-Benz SLK concept vehicle, MBtech demonstrates how a clearly reduced CO2 output harmonizes with excellent sporting performances. MBtech has adopted the application of powertrain and motor running on natural gas, including combustion process development and adaptation; drive electronics development, and the development of individual components. The tests on natural gas-powered drive for sports vehicles were carried out on MBtech’s own motor and component test stands. Newly developed and adapted components were integrated on the vehicle, followed by test drives. MBtech relied on its plant and on its modern equipment for alternative drives in the area of dynamic driving measurement techniques.
Furthermore, the MBtech SLK is equipped with a special camouflage system, which is used in test models and prototypes. The lamination is used as an example of the company’s comprehensive service range in the vehicle test. This is the result of MBtech experts and test drivers being available for their clients 365 days a year and 24 hours a day on the company’s testing premises or in action on endurance runs on roads throughout the world. "With this technology and these testing vehicles, MBtech Group shows its comprehensive competence in all aspects. This vehicle demonstrates how we, as vehicle manufacturers, but also suppliers, provide support during your development and testing processes with engineering and consulting services—all rendered by the same provider", stated Werner Kropsbauer, MBtech general manager and spokesman.
Efficient testing with MBtech services and products
The MBtech electronics solutions segment uses excellent tools for the HiL Test Center area to automate highly efficient and cost-effective testing processes. With the practically developed PROVEtech:TA software, defined test cases and systems are run and transferred in order to automatically test the software functions of control devices. At the MBtech stand, Testing-Expo visitors can see how infotainment control device functions are tested in a combined fashion (combined instrument, navigation system and CD-changing device). With its visual interface, PROVEtech:TA is a universal tool for performing automatic tests- from the early development phase through the whole development process to the series quality control.
In its Validation & Improvement Services portfolio, MBtech electronics solutions demonstrates the LIN-Test system which is used to test control devices in accordance with LIN standards. Developers can certify their control devices based on MBtech in order to comply with MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) and LIN (Local Interconnect Network) standards. For this purpose, MBtech works together with MOST- and LIN- certified testing companies.
Particularly interesting for the automotive industry, especially for niche vehicles with a small number of units, are the exhibited sample projects for low-volume productions of control devices: All from the same provider - from development and testing to production and delivery.
