THAI PRODUCTION SYSTEM (TPS) successfully implemented at Ampas Industries.

Category: consulting

On the 9th of August 2006 the manual for the Thai Production System was handed over to the Thai automotive supplier Ampas Industries Co., Ltd. together with Bernd Parting (Director, DEG, TH), Michael W. Müller (Vice President, MBtech Group) handed over the document to Viroj Pattaraumopornchai, the Vice President of Ampas Industries, Co. Ltd. As such Ampas Ind. has now become the first company to implement the fully developed production system.

The Thai Tier-1 supplier works with OEMs such as Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Toyota, and Nissan, supplying rearview mirrors, lights and a diverse range of plastic parts. Founded in 1982, the company now employs more than 1200 people. The transfer of the TPS commenced in January 2006 and the implementation completed within the planned 6 month time period.

The TPS is an independent production system for the Thai automotive industry and was developed by MB-technology Asia Ltd. and piloted by AAPICO Hitech Plc., an automotive supplier from Ayutthaya, Thailand (further information here). The project was initiated as part of the Public Private Partnership Program together with the DEG (Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft). As shown by the Ampas Ind example, the PPP is being successfully implemented in close cooperation with associated industrial organizations and with leading Thai universities as additional partners.
