Innovation demands quality.
MBtech presents new approaches to testing automotive electronics at the SE conference. The Software Engineering Conference 2009 (SE09) – from the 2nd – 6th of March in Kaiserslautern and arranged by the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) and the Technical University of Kaiserslautern– is an important event for both industrial and scientific decision and policy: The Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (Information technology association) established the SE conferences in order to present and discuss major trends and issues in software technology. Experts from the MBtech Group explain which current and future tools will succeed in ensuring the quality of the electrical and electronics systems in vehicles.
Modern vehicles demand an increasing number of and increasingly complex electronic function control. Thus, the motto of the SE09 is "Guaranteed Quality - The Requirement for Industrial Software Development". Dr. Eric Sax , Director Test Engineering from MBtech's electronics solutions segment, will address precisely this issue in his lecture, "Testing electronics in the automotive industry - from the realizable specification to automated testing in the vehicle" on the conference's industry day (Wednesday, 4th March 2009). "Fully-developed tools for testing electrical and electronics systems are already in use today," explained Dr. Sax, "however they are often only regarded as fragments of the overall development process." As the scope of the testing tasks is constantly growing, this selective approach scarcely fulfills the current requirements regarding control unit quality. As such, MBtech electronics solutions has developed the PROVEtech:TA tool suite for example - practically oriented software for controlling and automating test systems along the entire process chain in the automotive industry.
How can the software tools available on the market be flexibly and cost-effectively integrated in order to automate ECU application testing? The MBtech engineers, Thomas Eißenlöffel and Sebastian Moslener, will answer this question with a project case study. This tool chain, which also integrates MBtech’s PROVEtech:SD (a model-based development platform), consists of tools for test management, cover coverage analysis and documentation generation. This tool chain enables software changes in the development system to be verified and object code on the target platform to be validated faster than ever before.
