MBtech know-how at the CAR Symposium.

This year the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences is hosting the ninth CAR Symposium, which has developed into an international meeting point for experts from the automotive branch. The expert know-how from MBtech's Consulting Segment is also in demand: Ralf Schäfer, Principal Global Practice Strategy, will hold a lecture outlining the requirements for the strategic orientation of OEMs and suppliers.

More than 650 congress participants are expected at the Car Symposium, which will take place on January 28, 2009 in Bochum - also every automobile manufacturer as well as the majority of the branch's suppliers and service providers will be represented. In addition more than 80 companies present themselves in a trade exhibition. The keynote speakers are Rupert Stadler, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, John Fleming, the President of Ford Europe as well as Frank Stronach, the founder and Chairman of the supplier, Magna International. The central theme of both the symposium and the accompanying discussions is already foreseeable: The current automotive sales crisis.

For Ralf Schäfer, Principal Global Practice Strategy, the central issue is preventing the prevailing perception of the current crisis from obscuring the overall strategic challenges which the automobile manufacturers and their suppliers will face in the future. Schäfer's core message  in his lecture in the second info block with the focal theme "Future markets and technologies": "The challenges facing manufacturers and suppliers are so complex and interwoven that selectively addressing certain aspect fails to fulfill the goal of achieving sustainable competitiveness." The rapid and sustainable transformation demanded by the market requires the simultaneous optimization of the company in every area of influence. He clarifies how this can function on the basis of examples drawn from MBtech Consulting's practical experience.
