MBtech advances CNG engine

On October 13-14, 2009 the "ATZ/MTZ Conference - Motor" held at Stuttgart's “Haus der Wirtschaft” will focus on compressed natural gas (CNG) as a vehicle fuel. Andreas Biemelt, the Head of Otto Engine Combustion Development at MBtech powertrain, explains the opportunities truly offered by this frequently underestimated alternative fuel in his lecture, "The dynamic CNG engine" (October 13, 11:30 - 12:00am). He describes how MBtech developed its CNG demonstrator vehicle study, which is based on a Mercedes-Benz SLK - a CNG-powered sports car with 146 kW/199 HP engine, and a top speed of 244 km/h, whose CO2 emission of 150 grams per kilometer are comparable with far less powerful middle-class vehicles with gasoline engines.
